Mary Davis
Mary Davis joined SSE&G in 1999 and is the Director of the Real Estate and Environmental practice areas. Ms. Davis has extensive experience in real estate transactions and litigation. Her special passion is for the redevelopment of contaminated properties where she brings together her knowledge of special financing programs and environmental regulations with her negotiation skills. Ms. Davis also has experience in business and commercial litigation.

- Served on the steering committee for large multi-party Superfund clean up.
- Successfully organized small business group to provide representation in Superfund litigation and leadership role in briefing and negotiation which the individual parties could not have achieved.
- Successfully resolved multi-million dollar claim by pharmaceutical manufacturer against supplier of defective raw material.
- Successfully defended national banks from lender liability and discrimination claims.
- Successfully defended non-profit board of trustees against large for-profit company attempting to acquire the non-profit.
- Oversight of numerous transactions of contaminated properties, including the clean up of existing contamination.
- Participated on rule writing committee for Ohio’s Voluntary Action Program.
- Successfully utilized alternative dispute resolution opportunities resulting in substantial cot savings for clients.

Additional Background
Ms. Davis received her BA (History) from Northeastern Illinois University and her JD from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where she served as an editor on the Journal of International Law.
Ms. Davis has served in leadership positions in various international charities, including the establishment of a micro lending project for a community in the central hills area of Nepal. Ms. Davis serves as a collection coordinator (east side of the Cleveland Metro area) for Operation Christmas Child, an international children’s charity.
Ms. Davis is a wilderness backpacker and has trekked through mountains and canyons, including the Grand Canyon, Mount Lexmore (New Zealand) and Yosemite High Sierra.
Ms. Davis is a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan and Ohio Bar Associations. She has served in leadership roles in the environmental law section and the women in law section.
Ms. Davis lives in Cleveland Heights. She is a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd where she serves on the Vestry (leadership council).
