Patricia R. Frutig
Patricia R. Frutig focuses on transactions dealing with Estate Planning, including Trusts, Wills, and Powers of Attorney; Probate and Elder Law. Her experiences have lent themselves to these areas of the law. She began her career in the administration of personal trusts and spent time analyzing the trust documents presented for administration within a bank trust department setting. She is a member of the Ohio State and Cleveland Bar Associations.
Her volunteer activities cover over 25 years involved in the areas of understanding of and implementation of policies which directly affect the aging population in Northeast Ohio. Other volunteer activities include caring for the children within the Cuyahoga County community with involvement in two Child Caring Agencies. All of these family oriented activities strengthen her rapport with clients and their families. She received her J.D. from Cleveland State University in 1983 and her B.A. from Connecticut College. She has been licensed to practice in the Northern District of Ohio since 1984.
Specific activities include:
- Shepherding small and large decedents’ estates through the probate process in Cuyahoga County and surrounding counties
- Acting as guardian and representing guardians of wards, both of minors and of those deemed incompetent
- Consulting with individuals and families to devise estate plans which will ease the process of legal life after death while avoiding entangling court proceedings if possible
- Reviewing current estate plans for their effectiveness under current law and effectuating needed changes
- Drafting and implementing Corporate Compliance Program under OIG and HIPAA regulations
- Chairing of committees to build and operate HUD 202 housing for older adults within the non-profit environment
- Strategic planning for not-for-profit entities in both the fields of aging and child caring
- Advising on and setting up charitable organizations qualifying for 501(c)3 status or equivalent
- Representation of plaintiffs and defendants in eminent domain proceedings
- Coordination with litigation attorneys for probate litigation
