Andrew Bemer was honored by the Northeast Ohio Law Director’s Association
Mr. Bemer was honored for his leadership during his year as President of the Association. Mr. Bemer also was the moderator of a collective bargaining panel which was a segment in the Municipal Law Seminar held on this day, co-sponsored by the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.

SSE&G Paralegal Theodore Crispino becomes SSE&G's newest associate!
Congratulations to Theodore M. Crispino who was sworn in as an Ohio attorney on December 20, 2012. Mr. Crispino was born and raised in Connecticut, schooled in New York, graduated from Brooklyn Law School, and married a Cleveland lady who brought him to Cleveland. First as a paralegal until he passed the Ohio bar, and now as an attorney, Theodore is helping the firm with its growing demand in the Business/Corporate Practice Area and our Intellectual Property Practice Area. Mr. Crispino has wasted no time adjusting to his new role.
Mr. Crispino also serves as a Director of the Tremont West Development Corporation (link).

We are sad to report that we lost a long time client and good friend, James Frackelton, MD.
Dr. James Frackelton was one of the founders of the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM). ACAM has an published an excellent blog post about Dr. Frackelton on their website. Our condolences to his family.

the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee!
SSE&G attorney's Daniel Gourash and Jessica Handlos authored an article entitled "Twelve Ohio Supreme Court Insurance Cases to Know in 2012" that was published by the ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section's Insurance Coverage and Litigation Committee in its Summer Newsletter.

Eric Baker and Andrew Bemer presented a CLE Seminar on Public Employees at
the NEOLDA Monthly meeting.
The CLE program, entitled "The Public Employee Speaks His Mind - Is It Protected as Public Concern, or a Matter of Personal Interest?", was presented at the North East Ohio Law Directors Association monthly meeting. The meeting was held at Sammy's Metropolitan Ballroom on Thursday, June 14th.

Partner Daniel Gourash to be Appointed Chairman of the ABA Standing
Committee on Specialization
Congratulations to firm partner, Daniel F. Gourash, who has been appointed by ABA President-Elect Laura Bellows to Chair the Standing Committee on Specialization to be effective after the ABA Annual Meeting in August.
The ABA Standing Committee on Specialization works with attorneys and firms to help develop ABA accredited legal specialist certification programs. Certification of legal specialists has a beneficial impact on practicing lawyers, clients and the legal profession as specialization provides a framework for professional development and offers lawyers incentive to improve their skills and knowledge.

Firm Principal, Keith Savidge, attended the DRI "Retail and Hospitality litigation
and Claims Mangement" Seminar in Chicago on May 10 -11.
This annual conference is attended by defense attorneys and retail and hospitality in-house counsel and claims managers who routinely deal with a variety of complex legal issues confronting the retail and hospitality industries. Mr. Savidge participated in break-out sessions sponsored by SSEG firm clients to coordinate with their approved panel counsel. "This is the third year of this conference which was well attended, and is proving to be a premier DRI event," said Savidge, who heads up the firm's retail group.

Smart Business announced the winners of the "World Class Customer Service Award for 2012" and we are happy to share that SSE&G was selected as a recipient. The World Class Customer Service awards honor companies for their superior customer service.
An awards ceremony will take place on June 7th at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven. Partner Gregory D. Seeley will attend to accept the award.

Andrew Bemer elected President of the NEO Law Directors Association
SSE&G is pleased to announce that partner Andrew Bemer was elected President of the North East Ohio Law Director's Association at its February meeting.
Mr. Bemer was first elected Law Director for the City of Rocky River in 2005 and continues to serve in that capacity. He was re-elected to his 4th term in 2011.
